In the cult classic Valley of the Dolls (1967), Patty Duke plays an actress who achieves early fame in her career before descending into substance addiction and emotional turmoil. On the upside, the romantic drama features an onscreen catfight and coverage of Patty’s bra-clad cleavage! But like her troubled character, Pat encountered a problematic personal life off screen due to manic depression. Decades before she was diagnosed, the pretty performer won America’s heart on The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966).
