She’s had a weird career, but Emily Wagner’s work is only as quirky as her beauty. This artist/actress/producer actually started as an aspiring hip-hop artist in NYC. Sadly, this meant spending the early ’90s as a white rapper flashing her gold tooth in the background of music videos. MTV would even replace her with Jenny McCarthy before taping began on the game show Singled Out. By then, however, Emily had decided to join her siblings in a proper acting career. She quickly landed the steady--if thankless--role as paramedic Doris Pickman on ER. Emily’s been a regular presence on the show since its debut in ’94, but she’s gone neglected in hits like Se7en (1995) and indies like Amy’s Orgasm (2001). She also got more attention for her behind-the-scenes work when she teamed up with gal pal Julie Delpy to produce and act in the short films Blah Blah Blah (1995) and Looking for Jimmy (2000). Emily finally scored a proper showcase in the Wagner family affair The Talent Given Us (2004). Her writer/director brother Allen helms the production, while she acts alongside sister Maggie and parents Judy and Allen. Everyone’s playing themselves, which makes it all the sexier as Emily steals the film as a UFO-obsessed spiritualist with a tendency to go into great detail about her sex life.
