Best known for her role as Melanie “Mel” Owen on the UK’s long-running and super popular soap opera EastEnders, a part she played for over 600 episodes from 1998-2019, British babe Tamzin Outhwaite has earned star status in her native country. She also earned her two awards for Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards. After a handful of roles here and there at the beginning of her career, the blonde bombshell got down to business when she booked her first long-term gig, as Sgt. Jo McDonagh in the series Red Cap from 2003-2004. After that, her substantial series roles included being Rhoda Bradley in Vital Signs in 2006, Rebecca Mitchell in Hotel Babylon from 2006-2007, Rose Chamberlain in The Fixer in 2008-2009, DCI Sasha Miller in New Tricks from 2013-2015, and Barbara Watson in Ridley Road in 2021. Though she’s mostly famous for all those TV appearances, Tamzin has also done a few feature films, including Great Expectations(2012) with Ralph Fiennes and Woody Allen’s UK, US, France collab Cassandra’s Dream (2007) with Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor, and Hayley Atwell. She also played Lili Taylor in the 2006 erotic thriller Betrayed by Passion, aka Backwaters, a paralyzed woman who travels to India for treatment. Unfortunately, it ends up with her character not very alive; but on the bright side, topless. A more lively version of the star can be found in The Masked Dancer UK in 2021—although granted she’s covered by a scarecrow costume.
