The Thieving Magpie (2025)

Maria (Ariane Ascaride, the wife of director Robert Guédiguian) is a sixty-something woman working as a home care assistant for elderly people who are much more well off than herself. Married to an unemployed gambler (Gérard Meylan) and grandmother to an aspiring pianist, Maria has taken to stealing a few Euros from her clients here and there to get by. No biggie, right? They don’t even notice. But when her grandson sets his sights on attending a prestigious music conservatory, Maria steps up her game with a little check forgery. Only now someone notices. You know what we noticed? The marvelous Marilou Aussilloux shows off her beautiful buns at one point while lounging in bed. No need to steal a glance, she’s out and proud for several seconds!
